General Product Information
What is Pathfinder-XML?
Pathfinder-XML is a Web Services API that implements the Pathfinder air cargo flight information platform. Pathfinder-XML provides developers with ability to integrate into their proprietary systems the relevant, real-time information sophisticated users need to make and monitor flight routing decisions.
Who uses Pathfinder-XML?
Pathfinder-XML is designed for integration into proprietary logistics solutions, and is targeted at large logistics management companies with proprietary systems, logistics and supply chain solutions providers, third-party independent software vendors and integrators, and airline cargo operators.
How does Pathfinder-XML work?
Pathfinder-XML is a collection of XML-based Web Services accessible using standard Internet protocols such as XML over HTTP and SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol). This means that developers can use any language or environment that supports these protocols including Java, C++ and Microsoft's .NET. Pathfinder-XMLís well-defined messages allow developers to access and share data through a variety of individual or aggregated commands.
What type of data can I access through Pathfinder-XML?
Passenger and cargo flight schedule information, real-time weather data, real-time FAA airport status and delay, flight on-time statistics, flight status through the FAA and Sabre and other data sources are available through Pathfinder-XML.
How does Pathfinder-XML differ from other sources of flight schedule information?
Raw flight schedule information is available from a variety of sources, however the value of raw schedule information is limited. Generally, for schedule information to be of maximum value, it needs to be enhanced through technology and through aggregation with other sources of real-time data. The more the data encompasses vital decision-making criteria, the more it provides value to the user. Pathfinder is the only alternative on the market that integrates multiple real-time data sources into a single tool, and that attempts to optimize such data specifically to solve air cargo scheduling challenges. For comprehensive data, and the tools to make this data valuable, no other solution approaches the power of Pathfinder.
Can I get information for international routes?
Pathfinder-XML supports flight routing for origin and destination airports throughout the world. However, airport delay information and extended weather forecasts are only available for U.S. cities and airports. Conducive Technology expects to introduce complete international airport and weather support in the near future.
What makes the Pathfinder Routing Engine different from others on the market?
Logistics managers look to minimize the risk of late arrival or missed connections, so the focus must be on factors that insure shipments arrive on time. Such factors include analysis of multiple origination/destination airports, routing to or away from certain airports and/or airlines, adequate connection times to insure that shipments get transferred among planes, possible elimination of multiple carriers, proper equipment, and other numerous other factors. Pathfinder-XML provides a dynamic, optimized routing engine that lets you set objectives, identify those factors that most effect your shipment, and optimize your search such that the results you see are the results that are important to you. The routing engine generates connections dynamically in direct response to user-defined settings. This yields a list of flights that are "scored" for each route, with a higher score indicating a route that better matches your needs relative to other alternatives.
Is flight status information available?
With Pathfinder-XML, users have access to a variety of sophisticated flight status services. By combining flight schedules and flight status into a single information source, users have the power to make decisions and set monitoring preferences all in a single transaction. Flight status includes FAA-based flight status information and GDS-based airline flight information (flifo), enhancing the ability to track decisions and insure the successful completion of shipping transactions.
What is the difference between GDS-based airline flight information (flifo) and FAA-based flight status information?
In general, flight status information comes from one of two sources - the airline (reported through the GDS) or the pilot (reported through the FAA). Usually, pilot information is the most useful and the most accurate, since the pilot has control over the plane and the data is immediate. However, until the pilot takes his/her seat in the cockpit, the best source of information is the airline. Often, if flight status information is secured from only one source, the data can be inaccurate or not up-to-date. That's why Pathfinder integrates data from both the FAA and Sabre, so that data accuracy can be insured.
What type of data commands are available?
Pathfinder's extensive information can be accessed and shared through a variety of individual or aggregated commands. The commands deliver information regarding airlines, airports, weather, flights, flight status and events, and are structured such that the information pieces can be tailored to fit an organization's unique needs.
What Internet protocols does Pathfinder-XML support?
Pathfinder-XML Web Services are accessible using standard Internet protocols such as XML over HTTP and SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol). This means that you can develop your application in a number of different languages and environments including Java, C++ and Microsoft's .NET. Pathfinder-XML also supports the .NET initiative.
How do I keep track of my organization's activities and usage?
Pathfinder-XML provides extensive logging capabilities that enable you to track usage levels within your organization.
What level of performance can I expect from the Pathfinder platform?
Because all data is continually accessed and cached into the systems at Conducive Technology, Pathfinder-XML customers have immediate access to the relevant, real-time information needed to make decisions.
What measures have been taken to insure the safety and security of information?
To insure the safety and security of information, all messages passed by Pathfinder-XML are accessible only to the user making the request. All API calls must present customer-unique credentials in order to eliminate the risk of unauthorized user access. Users can change their passwords at any time, and we continuously monitor traffic for suspicious activity. For additional security, API calls can be made over secure SSL protocol via Hypertext Transfer Secure Protocol (HTTPS).
Does Conducive provide a stable hosting environment?
The information systems that support Pathfinder-XML are housed at SunGard, a world-class hosting facility.
Tools and Support
What developer tools are available for Pathfinder-XML?
